1. Who we are

Chromapal Color Assistant is a project by Dirk Bal, visual artist, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KVK) under number 62383027, located at Eindstraat 27, 6265 AD Sint Geertruid. You can reach us at our email address.

2. What Color Assistant is

Color Assistant is an online tool that lets you photograph a paint color and get mixing advice: a suggestion for which tubes of paint from a brand of your choice you can mix to approximate that color. The advice is a tool based on general pigment and color information per brand. The result is an estimate, not a guarantee — the actual outcome depends on factors such as the lighting when photographing, the quality of your screen or camera, the surface and dilution used, and differences between production batches of the paint itself. Use the advice as a starting point and always test a mixture on a small scale first before applying it to your work.

3. Account and trial period

To use the tool you create an account with an email address and password. New accounts receive a one-time 48 hours of free access. After this trial period, access is only possible with an active paid subscription. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential.

4. Subscriptions and pricing

There are four subscription types, all cancellable monthly with no further notice period:

• Basic: €5,- per month, including 1 brand of your choice. You can add extra brands for €2,- per brand per month. You can add or remove brands yourself at any time via your account.
• Extended: €10,- per month, access to all available brands, including brands added later.
• Complete package: €17,50 per month, all brands together with the 9 classic/academic palettes (such as Zorn, Rembrandt and Florence Academy of Art) in one subscription.
• Study classic palette: €5,- per month, exclusively the 9 classic/academic palettes, without brand selection.

Prices include VAT where applicable. We may adjust prices; in the event of a price change we will inform existing subscribers in advance.

5. Payment and cancellation

Payments are processed via Stripe. A subscription automatically renews monthly until you cancel. You can cancel at any time via your account; you retain access until the end of the current billing period. No automatic refund is given for a month that has already started, unless required by law.

6. Right of withdrawal

Because Color Assistant is a digital service that becomes available immediately after purchase, by starting a subscription you agree that you expressly waive your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal once the service has been delivered. You can of course still cancel your subscription at any time for the future, as described under point 5.

7. Liability

We do our best to make the mixing advice as accurate as possible, but cannot guarantee an exact color match. Color Assistant is not liable for damage arising from the use of mixing advice, such as failed mixtures, material loss or divergent results on an artwork, except in the case of intent or gross negligence on our part. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you have paid in subscription fees in the preceding 3 months.

8. Availability and changes

We strive for a well-functioning service, but cannot guarantee that Color Assistant is always available without interruption. We may adjust the tool, the range of brands and these terms. In the event of significant changes, we will inform you in advance.

9. Applicable law

Dutch law applies to these terms. We prefer to resolve disputes informally first via our email address before going to court.

10. Colour representation

Colours displayed on this website are for guidance in paint mixing only. Their appearance may vary depending on screen settings, device, lighting conditions and other factors, and may therefore differ from the appearance of the physical product.
